in my quest as a mum, i found useful website and materials. i dedicate this section to my angel.

Is your toddler ready?

Most parents eagerly anticipate toilet training as amilestone in their child's development, if for no other reason than that itmeans an end to changing diapers. But few moms and dads are prepared for howlong toilet training can take. Sure, some children master it within a few days,but others can take several months. In fact, it's generally true that theearlier you start, the longer it takes.

You and your child have a better chance of success if you understand theelements of training and approach the process in a clear fashion. Here are thebasic steps:

A.Assess your child's readiness — and your own

Some children are ready to start potty training by 18 monthsor so, but others aren't interested in the process until they're closer to 3years old. Many parents begin potty training when their children are about 2and a half.

Watch for signsthat your toddler is ready to start (can she follow simpleinstructions? can she walk and sit down?) but try not to put on the pressure.Rushing her when she's not ready will be counterproductive. And remember thatwhat worked for your older child might not work for this one — boys tend totrain a bit more slowly than girls, while second (and subsequent) children maylearn more quickly than firstborns.

First and foremost, invest in a child-sized potty chair or aspecial adapter seat that attaches to your regular toilet. This eases theanxiety some children feel about the grown-up toilet — some fear falling intoit, others dislike the loud noise of the flush. Figure out what equipment isbest for your toddler before you go shopping.

If you have a boy and are buying a potty chair, look for one without a urineguard or with a removable one. You may have to wipe up a little more stray pee,but the guards tend to bump into and scrape a boy's penis when he sits on thepotty, which can discourage him from training.

If you're using an adapter seat, make sure it's comfy and secure, and buy astool to go with it. Your toddler will need the stool in order to get up anddown from the toilet quickly and easily, as well as to brace her feet whilesitting, which helps her push when she's having a bowel movement.

C.Create a routine

Set your toddler on the potty seat, fully clothed, once a day— after breakfast, before her bath, or whenever else she's likely to have abowel movement. This will help her get used to the potty and accept it as partof her routine. If there's not an easily accessible bathroom around, bring yourchild's portable potty outside, to the playroom, or wherever your toddler maybe.

Once she's fine with this routine, have her sit on the potty bare-bottomed.Again, let her get used to how this feels. At this point, let her know thatthis is what Mommy and Daddy (and any older siblings) do every day. That is,taking off your pants before you use the bathroom is a grown-up thing to do.

If sitting on the potty with or without clothes is upsetting to your toddler,don't push it. Never restrain her or physically force her to sit there,especially if she seems scared. It's better to put the potty aside for a fewweeks before trying again. Then, if she's willing to sit there, you know she'scomfortable enough to proceed.

D.Demonstrate for your child

Children learn by imitation, and watching you use the bathroomis a natural way to understand what using the toilet is all about. If you havea son, it's simpler to teach him topeesitting down at this young age. Later, when he's mastered that,he can watch his dad, older brother, or friend pee standing up — he's bound topick it up quickly with just a little encouragement.

When you demonstrate for your toddler, it's helpful to explain what's going onas you're using the bathroom and let her see afterward what you"made." Then show her how you wipe with toilet paper, pull up yourunderwear, flush the toilet, and wash your hands.

Even though you'll be helping your toddler with these activities for some time,especially wiping after a bowel movement, seeing you do it and hearing you talkthrough it will help her get used to the whole process. (When you wipe yourtoddler, make sure to go from front to back, especially after a bowel movement,to minimize the risk of urinary tractinfections.)

If your toddler has older siblings or friends who are potty-trained, considerhaving them demonstrate, too. It can be helpful for your child to see othersclose to her age exhibiting the skills she's trying to learn.

E.Explain the process

Show your toddler the connection between pooping and thetoilet. The next time she poops in her diaper, take her to the potty, sit herdown, and empty the diaper beneath her into the bowl. Afterward, let her flushif she wants to (but don't force her if she's scared) so she can watch herdiaper contents disappear.

You also may want to pick up a few potty-training picture books or videos foryour toddler, which can assist her in taking in all this new information. EveryonePoops, by Taro Gomi, is a perennial favorite, as well as Uh Oh!Gotta Go! and Once Upon a Potty, which even comes in aversion with a doll and miniature potty.

Keeping a book like this in the bathroom, or a poster or flipbook thatillustrates the steps in using the potty, can help your toddler get familiarwith the process and relate it to what she does in the bathroom.

F.Foster the habit

Encourage your toddler to sit on the potty whenever she feelsthe urge to go. If she needs help getting there and taking off her diaper, makesure she knows it's okay to ask you for help any time.

If you can, let her run around bare-bottomed sometimes with the potty nearby.The more time she spends out of diapers, the faster she's likely to learn,although you'll have to steel yourself to clean up a few more puddles. Tell hershe can use the potty whenever she wants to, and remind her occasionally thatit's there if she needs it.

Sometimes toddlers won't sit on the potty long enough to relax and let anythingcome out. Calmly encourage your toddler to sit there for at least a minute orso. You'll have the best luck getting her to stay put if you keep her companyand talk to her or read her a book.

When your toddler uses the potty successfully, shower her with praise. Chancesare that she'll continue to have accidents, but she'll start to grasp thatgetting something in the potty is an accomplishment. Still, try not to make abig deal out of every trip to the potty, or your toddler maystart to feel nervous and self-conscious under the glare of all that attention.

G.Grab some training pants

Once training is under way, consider addingtraining pants — extra-thick cloth or disposables that pull onlike underwear — to your routine. They'll allow your toddler to undress for thepotty on her own, which is a critical step toward becoming completelypotty-trained.

While cloth training pants are less convenient than disposable pull-ups, manyparents say they work better because your toddler can really feel when she peesor poops in them. Whichever option you choose, introduce them gradually — probablyfor a few hours at a time — and stick with diapers at night for the time being.

When your child consistently seeks out the potty whenever she has to go, it'stime to move on to "big-kid" underwear. Many moms and dads have foundthat undies with a favorite character on them give kids a dandy incentive tostay dry.

H.Handle setbacks gracefully

Virtually every child will have several accidents beforebeing able to stay dry all day long. When this happens, don't get angry orpunish your child. After all, it's only recently that her muscle developmenthas allowed her to hold her bladder and rectum closed at all, and she's stilllearning why it's important to use the potty. Mastering the process will taketime.

What can you do? Reduce the chance of accidents by dressing your toddler inclothes that are easy to remove quickly. When she has an accident anyway,calmly clean it up and suggest (sweetly) that next time she try using her pottyinstead.

I.Introduce night training

Don't give away that stash of diapers just yet. Even whenyour child is consistently clean and dry all day, it may take several moremonths, or even years, for her to stay dry all night. At this age, her body isstill too immature to wake her up in the middle of the night reliably just togo to the bathroom.

When you're ready to embark on night training, your toddler should continue towear a diaper or pull-up to bed, but encourage her to use the potty if she hasto pee or poop during the night. Tell her that if she wakes up in the middle ofthe night needing to go, she can call you for help. You can also try puttingher potty near her bed so she can use it right there.

If she manages to stay dry for five nights in a row, it's a good time to startnighttime trainingin earnest. Put a plastic sheet under the clothone to protect the mattress, and put your toddler to bed in underwear (ornothing) and see how it goes.

There's not much you can do to help things along, short of limiting liquidsbefore bedtime, so if your toddler doesn't seem to get the hang of it, put herback in nighttime diapers and try again in a few months.

J.Jump for joy — you're done!

Believe it or not, when your child is mentally and physicallyready to learn this new skill, she will. And if you wait until she's reallyready to start, the process shouldn't be too painful for either of you.

When it's over, reinforce her pride in her achievement by letting her give awayleftover diapers to a family with younger kids, or by packing up the clothdiapers and sending them away with the diaper delivery service one last time.

And don't forget to pat yourself on the back. Now you won't have to think aboutdiapers ever again — at least, not until the next baby.

if you are a lagosian and you board or commute daily in public transport or popularly called DANFO then you would need to innovate ways to distract yourself from the stress and hassle of conductors, danfo drivers, frustrated passengers, lasma , agberos , and the police.
So what do I do? I just find a comfortable seat and plug in my headset and listen to music, today I did the same and I was nodding to the song and the woman seating by my side was just starring at me wondering why am not affected by the noise around me.

I have Found a New Passion

I have been going through some major milestone recently and it has really stretch my being.So i decided to do something new and exciting , and Viola i discovered i had a passion to cook, not just everyday cooking but trying out new and exciting recipes , have followed a lot of cooking blogs and i have also tired out new recipes, i also listen to this program on Inspiration Fm on Saturdays it think it is Uche can cook, before i forget i am addicted to FOOD channel on DSTV
So i made puff puff on Sunday, the puff puff came out really nice. i felt so proud and excited, so my weekends would be cooking weekends , not just cooking but cooking with passion.

The picture i took of the puff puff didn't come out well so i would paste a picture from someone else's so my friends who do not know what puff looks like would have an idea.
Ingredient
11/4 cups flour
1 tsp quick rise yeast
1/2cup sugar (adjust down or up for preference)
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1 cup lukewarm water
oil for frying

Direction
In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, yeast and nutmeg
with a whisk/ spatula in hand, add in the water while mixing
Once all the flour is worked in properly, cover the mixture with a table cloth. set aside for 3-4hrs
Set a large pot on medium heat, add in the oil.
Once the oil is hot ~ 5-6mins, Scoop the mixture with your hand or an icecream scoop, drop in the oil ( try not to crowd the pan)
Fry until golden brown turning occasionally.

2 cups flour
1/2 cup butter (melted)
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup milk

Pinch of nutmeg
1 egg
Oil for frying

Direction
In a bowl, combing all the ingredients
Mix everything together until you have a dough
Roll out the dough, cut into whatever shapes you desire
set the oil on fire, fry a batch at a time until golden brown

last week it was all over the news that a marriage of two years ended with husband stabbing his wife to death, but as story started unfolding we realized the husband has been beating the wife before.
This issue of domestic violence is really rampant in this country,now Lagos state has an effective domestic violence law, but still women are suffering in silence afraid to speak out. my sister in law too suffered this same issue of domestic violence luckily her family took action fast before it became worse.
The question is.... why do women undergo such amount of cruelty from their husband and still decide to remain in the relationship ,i know the bible says until death do us part , it didn't say death in the hands of our husband or did it, if women could think about their children , no child deserves to be raised in a house of violence , a kid that experiencing violence most of the time turn out to become violent themselves or become an unbalanced kid. also the women should think about their life , they owe it to their children , and the world to be alive.

my heart aches from all these issues, Women need to stand up and be what God says we are , we the bearer of life, we keep mother earth alive and bubbling.

Dearly Beloved,

I am sure the month of June has been quite exciting. However it has been,
be assured that God still has so much blessing in store for you.

As we commence the second half of the year 2011, I joyfully welcome you to
July, Your Month of Lifting. Irrespective of any contrary situation, you
will experience your amazing lifting in Jesus name.

Now, lifting presupposes a tight, despondent, hopeless, unwanted
situation. And that could be in your life, family or business. The good
news is, this month, the good hand of the Lord will lift you out of it, no
matter how deep-rooted or endemic it has been, in Jesus name.

As the psalmist said, “And now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies
all around me;
Therefore I will offer sacrifices of joy in His tabernacle; I will sing,
yes, I will sing praises to the Lord.” (Psalm 27:6)

Now hear this! This will be your own testimony this month and beyond. You
will sing, yes, you will sing praises to the Lord. And it will all be as a
result of the great thing He has done in your life.

For Esther, the situation was bleak. What with being the cousin of a
Jewish slave who was a gateman in the palace in a foreign land. But God
orchestrated circumstances in her favour and she was lifted to the
enviable position of Queen in spite of having no outstanding prior
credentials.

For her uncle Mordecai, it all looked like his life was going to end as a
gateman in the palace until God caused the king to have sleepless nights
over him. Then he was lifted to a position of great authority.

For the children of Israel in the same land, the scheming of Haman and the
subsequent decree to wipe out a whole race seemed irreversible. But God
showed up on their behalf through Esther and they were all lifted to the
chagrin and detriment of their enemies.

So, whatever your situation, get ready! There is a lifting coming your way
in Jesus’ name.

Someone said, “The stronger the wind, the higher the eagle soars.”

Like Esther, you will be lifted from obscurity to unimaginable heights in
Jesus name. Your present situation will be your own gateway to the
miraculous.

You will observe that in the cases of Mordecai and the children of Israel,
the matter had been concluded until God showed up. It doesn’t matter who
has concluded your case, get ready for a divine intervention!

No matter how impossible your situation seems, DON’T EVER GIVE UP!

In fact, more than ever, now is the time to be sensitive to the Holy
Spirit because you are probably at the brink of your desired breakthrough.
You cannot afford to turn your back on God at this crucial period. Your
time is NOW!

That is why our theme scripture for the month in Job 22:29 reads: “When
men are
cast down, then thou shalt say, there is a lifting up, and he shall save
the humble person.”

Please note that it is your responsibility to align your word, posture,
attitude and carriage with your expectation.

A real sign of mismanagement of resources

The fire at Mende Power Station

Residents of Mende, Maryland, Ketu, Ikosi and Ikeja GRA would be without electricity supply for an unspecified number of days following the fire that gutted a part of the Mende Power Station, Maryland on Monday.

The Power Station which supplies electricity to these areas has been unable to generate electricity following the fire on Monday afternoon.

According to Sam Nwaire, business manager of Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN), Ikeja District, the fire started as a result of “equipment failure”.

“The fire started yesterday around 12.58pm,” he said. “Before the failure, we have already made arrangement on how to replace that equipment. The replacement is already on hand but unfortunately we lost it. Now we are doing everything possible to make sure we install the new one. We have the new one already on ground.”

Mr Nwaire further said no one was injured in the fire but did not state the extent of financial loss caused by the fire. For him, the inconvenience to consumers as a result of the power cut was most important to PHCN at this time.

“What is paramount to us is the inconvenience to our customers and that is why we are working day in day out to make sure we restore electricity. After the restoration, we can talk about the financial loss but that is not paramount to us now,” he said.

He acknowledged the effort of the Federal and State Fire service who came “promptly” to help put out the fire.

When NEXT got to the Power Station yesterday, some workers were seen clearing up the area around a building that housed some burnt transformers. A PHCN staff who spoke anonymously said the removal of the burnt transformers was going to take a good number of days.

“Those are the transformer that supplied electricity to some areas. We have to remove the burnt ones out before we can replace it,” he said.

Some witnesses to the fire recounted their experiences.

Joy Useigbe, who sells baby clothes at a kiosk beside the power station said she had to close her shop when the fire started due to the noise of the explosions.

“You should have seen this place yesterday,” she said. “Gboa! Gboa! Everywhere. Me I ran away and I came back after the fire. I was not scared that the fire will reach my shop because they were controlling it. But the noise was too much.”

Another witness, Mr Tajudeen, a resident of Ajose street, Mende, said he was watching a movie when the electricity went off.

“I was watching TV at home when the light went off,” he said. “I thought it was just their normal on and off until I started hearing the explosions. When I came out, I saw that the street was blocked because they have stopped cars from entering the street from Ikorodu road. The whole street was blocked while they were quenching the fire but the fire did not last for long.”

While many were grateful the fire did not spread to neighbouring houses, they expressed fear that the power cut would go on for weeks given the extent of the damage.

“On a normal day, we don’t usually have constant light. Now that their station has burnt, I wonder when we will see light in this area again,” said Bose Yejide, a resident of Maryland.

“For me, I have prepared myself that I would not have light for the next two or three months. Now I have to go and repair my small generator,” said Moses Udoh, a resident of Ikosi.

However, when asked how long it would take to restore electricity to the area, Mr Nwaire said “it would take a couple of days.”

Aderinokun, GT Bank helmsman dies

The managing director and co-founder of Guaranty Trust Bank, Tayo Aderinokun, has died. He was 57. Mr Aderinokun, who was on medical leave for some months, died in a United Kingdom hospital on Tuesday afternoon, a press release from the bank's corporate affairs, communication and external affairs division said.

His last major outing was online at a question and answer webcast session with customers and the general public on January 11.

Until his death, Mr Aderinokun was the chairman of the Association of Lekki Landlords and a supporter of the arts. He co-founded the bank popularly known as GT Bank in 1990 with Fola Adeola and served as deputy managing director for 12 years between 1990 and 2002, after which he became the managing director, a position he held until he died. He took ill in February. When Mr Aderinokun went on leave, an acting managing director, Segun Agbaje, took over. He was deputy managing director from 2002 until April 20.

What Was The Aim Of Youth Lunch with GEJ?

I remember the last time that I was invited to a dinner by a friend; it meant so much to me because I had lost contact with him for many years and here he was with the memories of the old.

We discussed our childhood, the times in the secondary and life afterwards, we talked about everything that virtually came to mind. Through out that night, the discussion had no objective; we just talked until we were completely exhausted.

This was the case when I and other Nigerian youths were invited to a lunch with the President on the 24th day of May 2011 at Eko Hotel, Lagos.

We discussed the unfortunate post election violence that claimed members of the National Youth Service Corps, we argued if it should be scrapped or reformed and Mr. President declared that it will be reformed, what and what will be done, he did not say. We quickly changed the topic to unemployment which has become the biggest test for the youths, after much deliberation, another promise to create job opportunities, the percentage he intended to tackle was not stated and the strategy that will be used to achieve that was only in his thought. How then can we keep track of these promises?

An issue of a youth being appointed as a youth minister was raised, in that regard, nothing was said. No commitment, no counsel from a great leader, only a promise to give the youths a place in his administration which only reminds me of the idiom in police force that informs culprits that they have every right to remain silent because whatever they say will be used against them in the court of law.

The only commitment that was made that day was in regard to the accessibility of the fund established for the entertainment industry.

However, What the aim of the lunch that took so much of our resources is the only question that I've not being able to answer after many days. Perhaps the early days of your new administration will provide me the answers.
Mr. President, the expectations of young people from your administration are high. In considering appointments into your new cabinet especially the Ministry of Youth Development, we urge that you be guided by the provisions of our National Youth Policy, Nigerian Youth Manifesto (2011-2015) and the African Youth Charter which defines the youth in unequivocal terms as someone between the ages of 18 – 35.

We deserve nothing less than good governance. Be assured that, We will work for it, We will demand for it, We will fight for it and We will surely defend it.

Being a mother is a wonderful thing! But no one told me exactly what it would entail.

Sleep deprivation: Being a mother means being on duty ALL day, ALL week, ALL year without any off days and/or sick days, and certainly NO pay. I have not slept a full night through in over five years. FIVE YEARS. I am mentally, physically, and spiritually exhausted. Yes, I have sleep-trained the older one but there is nothing, nothing, that keeps my 10-month old from waking in the night. When she does, she crawls over to her 4 year old brother and starts to nibble on his ear, which off course wakes him up! At this point, I know I have to stop pretending to be asleep and save him from her (and vice versa). I draw the line at drugging or gagging them and tying her to her bed, so I fully expect to die of sleep deprivation sometime in the next few years.

The ENDLESS chatter: Amazing how many times the question ”Why?” can be generated as a result of the simplest request e.g. “Boogie, please come and brush your teeth”. Never mind what Super Nanny says…The best solution to THAT is …“Because I say so”. I make no apologies. I have earned the right to use those four words and I have the stretch marks and deflated boobs to prove it. Plus, I bet you couldn’t guess how long a story about a giant booger named Paparetnkw with purple hair, five mouths and twenty arms could be; believe me, it can take days! In the course of four+ years, I learnt how to tune these childish banters out of my mind’s focus; that was until my son found new ways of getting ‘mummy to listen’. The little boy would shake my arm until I yelled at him like a demented serial killer to “Leave mummy the hell alone”. Off course, this is usually followed by the additional job of comforting the now crying and shocked little boy. I feel a certain kinship to The Grinch and just want to clutch my head and wail “The noise, oh the noise, oh the noise, noise, noise, NOISE!”

The Broken Body: Like I once read somewhere “All the king’s horses and all the king’s men can probably never put your body back together exactly the way it was before you had children”. My bum is humongous. My feet, with each pregnancy, keep expanding like The Incredible Hulk’s. Bye-bye Spring 2011 Louboutins (that’s my official excuse for not owning a pair. Nothing to do with my zero-balance checking account).

The Post partum Depression: IT. IS. REAL. Sometimes I cry so hard at night (especially Friday nights) that my mug (yes, mug cos that’s how I roll) of red wine gets diluted by my tears into some pseudo-ORT concoction. Then I start laughing real hysterically at the mosquito that just perched on the end of my nose. Then I start crying at the fact that I’m laughing at a mosquito …and you get the picture?

The Servitude: The endless housework, the many MANY butt-wiping, nose-blowing, plenty feeding and laundry… The latter has finally over-taken me. My present laundry philosophy is WASH and WEAR, meaning straight from the laundry basket of clean, I put the unironed clothes unto their writhing little bodies. The clothes get soiled almost before I’ve finished buttoning my work shirts. As for feeding, all I can say is “Thank you, Indo Mie!” I used to stress over all of my inability to cope with being a full-time mom AND a working mom at the same time. But no more. All that counts is that they’re clean and fed and somewhat clothed (yes, T-shirt and diaper IS a complete outfit, thank you very much. Just ask Lady Gaga).

The Mommy Brain: How many times have I driven off with my shoes on the roof of my car? Or searched frantically for my ringing phone even though it’s in my hand? Or spent an hour asking my colleagues if there is such a thing as “Road constructioner or constructor”? Or spent hours trying to figure out if my change should have been 4 naira or 40 naira? And before you even think it, yes, I do have a degree, so I ain’t no blockhead. That’s what hours of sleep deprivation, the incessant chirping and constant exposure to mindless drivel like “Yes, my name is Iggle Piggle” can do.

Yes, no one told me that this was mommy hood. But no one also told me that with the birth of a child comes this overwhelming rush of emotion for another person such that I become a blubbering ball of emotion at the enormity of it all. No one told me that the tinkling laugh of my two little people could make my heart soar with such indescribable joy. No one told me about the fierce protectiveness that courses through my body as I watch their (finally) sleeping little faces. I love my babies and my babies love me. And THAT makes all of the above worth it.

When is it enough?

I know i am beginning to become a copycat, but this blogger speaks my mind exactly! please read and be inspired to do something out 9ja, i know the rally has pasted but really we need to do something.

Lately, I have been thinking. Really thinking.

In another five years do I still want to be putting on the generator? Do I want my son growing up shouting 'UP NEPA'. (He already does) or do I want to do something about it? I have a few options: Migrate to a 'civilised' country, retire early to a remote village or force the government to do something about it. Needless to say, I took the last option.

It's no longer enough to sit down and nag about NEPA or PHCN, it's time to act.

It doesn't matter if you don't live here or if you have three passports, as long as Nigeria flows in your veins either by birth or blood, then NIgeria is your home and is yours to build. Recently in the Birmingham, a friend of mine took me round the city in his car, there's a Nigerian flag there, he has a British passport but he flies the Nigerian flag. In the train as well, a white boy asks a Bengali girl, where she is from, she says London, and he says, nope, I mean where are you originally from?

The Enough is Enough campaign hits Abuja streets on the 16th of March,2010. If you cannot attend, can you at least sponsor someone? so that when Nigeria improves, we can all nod our heads in pride, saying, I was a part of that change.

Prayers that Shakes the Earth

The Lord is positioning His church to become people of action who will advance the kingdom of God. We are Christ's ambassadors; we are called to represent His rule. Wherever we are, the kingdom of God is also.

First Peter 2:9 says: "But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light" (NIV).

Investigating this Scripture, we will discover that the Greek word for "belonging," peripoiesin, when used here, carries the following meaning:

A set apart nation
A people consecrated for God's own possession
A purchased people
An acquired people
A people for purpose
A people for action.

God has chosen, purchased, acquired, consecrated and set us apart in order for us to move forward in purpose and action, completely trusting in the Lord, and knowing that we cannot do anything in and of ourselves. God not only wants us to walk in an intimate, personal relationship with Him, but from this place, we are to also move forward with the mentality of standing in the earth for Him and advancing the kingdom of God. He is calling us to hear His plans and purposes, to get in there with Him and to effect change.

As Christ's kingdom representatives, we are also representational. We are to establish a righteous paradigm in our areas of influence.

We serve an awesome God, who has made available to us favor, creativity, power, wisdom, strategies and all we need to cause the lost world to be drawn to Him and cultures to be transformed. No matter where we are placed—in our homes, neighborhoods, businesses and churches, God has equipped and anointed us for our assignments. What a powerful inheritance we possess!

THE MEASURE OF RULE The Lord allots to His children special territories or assignments, wherein we have a physical presence and spiritual authority. For some of us the territory might be an area such as the inner city, our neighborhoods or the marketplace. Some may be placed in professional leadership roles in businesses, schools, churches and governments. Others find their territories are people groups and the nations of the world.

There are some who carry a passion for youth and others, a strong desire to set captives free. Some may carry burdens in prayer. It is possible to have certain assignments for specific seasons and, as we grow with God, we'll discover that our areas of influence and spiritual authority are increased.

Paul describes this principle in 2 Corinthians 10:13: "We will not boast of things without our measure, but according to the measure of the rule which God hath distributed to us, a measure to reach even unto you" (KJV).

The Greek word for "measure" is metron, meaning to "cut out an area or distance with a measurer's reed or rule." It refers to the size of one's area of authority. Kanon, the Greek word for "rule," refers to "a field of activity." Here it means the power one has within a particular territory.

The Greek word merizo, translated "distribute," carries the meaning of "a portion or share." In putting these concepts together, Paul explains that the Lord assigns specific areas for each of His children in which we can move with power to make known the kingdom of God.

Paul's measure of rule was to the gentile nations. As kingdom ambassadors, we, too, are to establish a physical presence. To be influential, we cannot remain hidden. We must build trusting relationships with others. We are to become praying people of our word, who reflect the love of Jesus and walk in integrity, character, obedience and humility.

RESPONSIBILITY OF RELATIONSHIP As a young mother, I taught piano lessons in our home. Understanding this was a territory entrusted to me by God, I prayed that He would bring me students who needed a revelation of the love of Jesus.

I received a phone call from Susie, a 16-year-old girl, originally from Thailand. The Lord told me that she had a powerful call on her life. I was to give her lessons and intercede for her salvation.

Before each lesson, I spent time in focused intercession for Susie's salvation. She was placed in my measure of rule, and it was my responsibility to see her brought into the kingdom of God.

I did not preach or force my beliefs on her. I reached out in love and built a relationship based on trust. One afternoon in the middle of a piece of music, Susie suddenly stopped. "Miss Becca, can I ask you a question?" she said.

"Of course," I replied.

"You are a Christian, right?"

"Yes, I am. Why do you ask?"

She said: "I have Christian friends in my high school who talk to me about Jesus. I am curious to know Him, but my family worships Buddha. I know he is a false and powerless god. I do not want a religion focused on the worship of a false god. I must know that Jesus is real before I commit to follow Him."

"Susie," I said, "Jesus is the Savior of the world. He wants to reveal Himself to you. Do you have a need in your life? We can pray and ask Jesus to help you. He will answer our prayer, and you will know He is the one true God."

She replied: "I do have a need. I lost my glasses two weeks ago. My parents were mad at me because of the expense to replace them. Yesterday, I lost my new pair of glasses! I am afraid to tell my parents. Can we pray that I find my new pair before my parents realize I lost them?"

"Absolutely," I responded. We prayed asking the Lord to help Susie find her glasses.

The following week, Susie arrived for her lesson beaming with excitement. She quickly exclaimed: "The day after we prayed I went to school. After English class, my teacher called me to her desk and opened a drawer. She pulled out the first pair of glasses I had lost!

"That afternoon, the bus driver handed me the new pair of glasses my parents just bought for me! Not only did Jesus help me find my new pair of glasses, He also found my first pair. I know He is the one true God. Please lead me to Him." We both wept tears of joy as Susie received Jesus as her Savior.

Susie began to experience a hunger for the Word of God. A Bible was purchased for her, and we would spend the first portion of her class working on piano lessons, and the last portion learning about God.

Her Buddhist parents would have forbidden her to read the Bible, so she stayed up late at night, reading the Scriptures in bed under her sheets with a flashlight. During this time, the Lord began to give her an intercessory burden for her parents and family members in Thailand, who were trapped in the worship of Buddha.

One day Susie explained a difficult situation to me. Her parents were requiring her to go to the Buddhist temple to pray to Buddha and receive a blessing from the monk. She didn't want to go but was given no choice. We asked the Lord to work mightily on her behalf.

The day arrived for her blessing from the monk. After her parents prayed to Buddha, a monk approached the family for the blessing, but as he reached out to touch Susie's shoulder, he hesitated.

When he attempted to put his hand on her shoulder again, it was as if something hindered him from touching her. He bowed, as if to acknowledge the power within Susie, and then he left.

God performed that miracle. And in doing so, He showed Susie the authority she carried in her measure of rule.

During her last music lesson, Susie said: "Miss Becca, thank you for leading me to Jesus. When I graduate from college, I am going to Thailand as a missionary to lead my people to Him and to reach those gripped in darkness to the worship of Buddha." We both thanked the Lord for saving Susie, for His faithfulness in her life and for her calling to reach the Buddhist people of Thailand.

You never know where your prayers will take you. No matter what your assignment or measure of rule, when you recognize it, agree with the Lord about it, change and transformation will occur.

WATCHMEN ON THE WALL We are not living in our neighborhoods and cities by mistake. God has placed us there as His kingdom representatives to partner with Him.

In Acts 17:26, Paul said: "From one man He made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and He determined the times set for them and the exact places they should live. God did this so that men would seek Him and perhaps reach out for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us" (NIV).

As we build a physical presence, we also carry a role and spiritual authority as watchman on the wall. In ancient times, a watchman was one who stood guard on the city wall. Anything he saw approaching from a distance whether good or bad, he would announce its approach. He had to be alert, especially against hostility or danger.

As watchmen in our territories, we must be on alert through the guidance of the Holy Spirit. The Lord has given each of us the responsibility to watch—to stand on the wall, see what is approaching, announce it and blow the trumpet. As we stand in this place of prayer, watching on the wall and hearing the voice of the Lord, we can announce and release His directions and commands. The key to effectively legislating authority in our jurisdiction is walking with the Lord in obedience and doing what we see the Father doing.

PRAY, HEAR AND OBEY At some point we have all had this experience of godly authority, when we discovered an inborn ability to lead or encountered a situation that caused righteous indignation to rise up in our spirits. It may not be a frequent occurrence, but there are those times when unrighteous circumstances present themselves, and something within us takes charge of the situation.

This was the case for me several years ago. The Lord blessed our family with a home in a new neighborhood. It was a peaceful location with many Christian families, several growing church plants and a new field ripe for harvest.

We were driving through the neighborhood one day when my husband, Greg, and I noticed a sign on a corner lot that read: "Future Home for the Mormon Church." Concerned that this was not the spiritual influence we desired in our neighborhood, I said someone needed to do something before they began to build on the land.

Greg replied, smiling, "You're right! So when are you going to deal with it?" His challenge surprised me. Even though I did not want a false religion established in our territory, I had not thought about dealing with it myself.

The Lord was calling us to stand on the land and refuse access to this false religion. The following Sunday, we made a trip to the corner lot and stood in front of the sign. I asked Greg if he wanted to pray. He said: "You do it. I am here to agree with you as the Lord leads."

I began to pray. It was not a lengthy prayer, as I knew our purpose. "Father," I began, "we thank you for this neighborhood and the families who live here. Father, we thank You ahead of time for the work You are going to do in their lives. Right now we stand as legal landowners and homeowners and ones who have spiritual authority in this region. In the name of Jesus, we say that no Mormon church will be built. We say no to the spirit[s] of lying, error, [and] all Antichrist and witchcraft spirits attached to Mormonism. You are not welcome and will not gain entrance into this territory.

"We say no in Jesus' name. We say the paperwork for this building will not go through, and that the bank will not approve the loan. The door is shut to you right now.

"Father, we pray for all those involved in this church. We agree that deception will be broken off of minds and hearts, and that salvation will spring forth into their lives. We thank You ahead of time for their salvation. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen!"

We poured anointing oil around the sign and claimed the land for the kingdom of God. We made this declaration five years ago. That Mormon church has not been built, and the sign has been removed. This is a demonstration of legislative kingdom authority, in the form of a united cry, arising from followers of Jesus Christ and refusing illegal possession or seizure of land in our measure of rule.

The world around us is waiting to be restored. There are lost souls searching for answers, land that needs to be cleansed and laws that need to be changed. It is time to get in there with God and become women of action.

Allow Him to use you to affect change in your territory. When confronted with unrighteousness, let your declaration resound into the spirit realm: "Not in my city, not in my family, not in my territory, not on my watch.

Have you guys noticed the lawlessness of road transport workers in Lagos , since the beginning of elections? today the public transport i entered, the driver was driving as if we were in a car race competition, he was disobeying any and all traffic rules, he was on BRT line( Lagos metro line designed for metro buses) and was calling passengers, with BRT lining at his back and horning, he didn't even behave as though he was obstructing traffic, then i decided to look out of the window, i saw a LASMA official( traffic official) standing at the road side doing nothing.

i was surprise because prior to elections, the driver would have been in serious trouble, so i asked the driver why he was this brave and why he wasn't arrested, he said, Ha! madam, election dey now! and i said so , he said we no go vote for FASHOLA if they no allow us do wetin we wan do.

So my question is, why allow lawlessness because you are canvassing for votes? why behave as if what is wrong is ok for now, because you want people to vote for you,

i admire Gov. Fashola for what he is doing but...... why stop now ?

Welcome to the month of April, our month of Exploits.

God is good and I strongly believe He has been very good to you so far

this year. “What about the setbacks I have suffered and the challenges I

have encountered in certain areas?” you may ask.

Well, the fact that your challenges did not consume you is an indication

that God is very much interested in your now and future.

You will agree that significant changes are taking place right now in

every sphere of life. And one thing is certain: God is going beyond us to

establish His counsel.

Coincidentally, we are gearing towards our national elections. God is

interested in the affairs of men, which includes yours and mine. I

encourage you to cast your votes as God is leading you. I believe all

things will work together for our good in Jesus name.

Indeed, this is a special month. If the Holy Spirit says it’s our month of

exploits, then be expectant because God will surpass your expectations.

The Bible says in Daniel 11:32 b that the people who know their God shall

be strong, and do exploits. There is a special grace available to you this

month for great exploits. You will testify in Jesus ' name.

Invariably, your manifestation is of paramount importance to God. So this

month, you will begin to emerge from every form of obscurity that hitherto

has kept you hidden in Jesus name. The real you will begin to unfold . You

are about to start excelling in strange places, even in the areas where

you have not had any formal training or shown any interest.

If you are wondering how, have you considered who taught David the art of

war? Who taught Bezalel and Aholiab the craftsmanship they exhibited in

the construction of the tabernacle in the wilderness? Who gave Daniel and

Joseph the administrative acumen they exhibited in Babylon and Egypt

respectively? Or who taught Solomon the wisdom of administration with

which he ruled and conquered his world politically and economically, and

has made him the wisest king ever?

The truth is, the system of the world does not have what it takes to give

you what God is about to bring your way.

So, whatever seemingly constitutes an impediment in your life will cease

in Jesus name.

This means Nigerians would soon smile again!

After carrying out his MC duties at the late night event, he left the venue homeward bound in convoy of three cars involving the Gulder Ultimate Search Season 7 winner, Kunle Oluwaremi. “My friend drove my car, but immediately we realized a car was on the road, he managed to swerve to the left, but since it was sudden; my car hit the rear side of the Toyota. Meanwhile, CD was coming behind in a top speed and uncontrollably ran into my car (an Explorer Jeep) seconds later”, the 2011 GUS winner tells The NET NG.

He was immediately rushed to St. Nicholas hospital on Campbell Street, Victoria Island, where he died at about 7AM on Thursday 24 March 2011. CD drove the black Golf 2, with his girlfriend Ebere sitting next to him, and a certain Joy and an unknown young man at the back of the car. He died few hours after being treated for supposed head injuries while others who were in the car with him are still in at the hospital, recuperating from sustained minor injuries.

Are you ready to spend five hours with me? …Instead of talking about mistakes from an action point of view, I like to talk about them from a mindset point of view. If you can correct the thinking part, the action can be reviewed and corrected. The biggest problem is that our educational system does not prepare young graduates for the real life, so they are often ill-prepared. I don’t think there are no jobs in Nigeria again; if not, Tuesday and Thursday Guardian would not be selling fast. People don’t just wake up and say they feel like advertising every week. There are actually jobs; but, they are not looking for people, but for the skills. Interviews and tests are just trying to find out whether people have those skills. Young people need to understand what skills they have – whether you were a leader of AIESEC or whatever group in your school..”

He continues, “Recently, in one of my organization’s programmes for fresh graduates, I found out people are still very clueless. I took a session and did an overview of thirteen industries in Nigeria – where the jobs are and what kinds of jobs are there and how to get those jobs and I had people just staring at me like they had never heard about it before. I am not looking for a job, and I know all of these, and there you are looking for job and you don’t know any of these? Obviously, you are not going to get it. If you have to go interview somewhere, when you show up there and say, “I did this, I did that, I did this…” “I did” means I have the ability to do, so if that’s what they require there, they say ‘we have the right person’ that has the knowledge and the skills. …And also, the right attitude – because that’s another dimension. Many young people want the job primarily because of association. ‘Oh, I work with Zenith Bank, I work with Chevron…’ They want names, association, prestige, and to collect salary while they don’t mind going to just to browse Facebook, but they are not thinking about adding. Stop being a job seeker, become a problem solver. Find out what problem you are designed to solve; develop your capabilities in that area; look for who needs those capabilities; you don’t need to attend every interview.

“If you have several abilities, find that area where you can fully deploy yourself and add the best value. A lady once came to me on referral, looking for work. I looked at her CV and it was empty. I just dropped it asked her, ‘Tell me; what do you love to do?’ She said, ‘Well, I actually like planning parties. It’s so interesting that when I’m in school, from home, when there is a party, they call me to come and handle it. My friends too call me.’ I said, ‘Beautiful! There are some event management companies in Lagos. We’re going to see how we can get a job for you.’ Her countenance changed. She said, ‘I want a job’. I was the head of recruitment for Bank PHB. In her mind, all I needed to do was wave a wand and she would get the employment letter. I was never going to do that because I had that responsibility to my own organisation. Unfortunately, she couldn’t see it. I don’t know what she’s doing today. Maybe she has a job now… Then, if you doctor your resume, one day it will tell. I know someone who was 39, but claimed 29. What if one day he falls on the job, because they expect you to work as a 29-year-old. One day the stress will tell on you. It will affect you. Where the truth cannot get you to, don’t bother going there. Mentorship is also very important. Throughout the course of my career, I’ve had people that I follow actively. I seek them because I want to do things, the path of which they have toed. I might be going farther than them, but, at least, they are ahead of me. I can still learn from them.”

I realized that nowadays most of what i think about and interest me is my babies, so i decided to post an interesting article i got from a website i visit often.

Loud trucks. The bathtub. A lawn mower. Ten-month-olds commonly develop fears about aspects of daily life that never bothered them before. As your baby becomes more aware of her surroundings and begins to explore, she may be frightened by things she can't understand (bathwater pouring out of a faucet), harsh sounds (a noisy garbage disposal), or things that startle (a jack-in-the-box). Or the fear may have no clear explanation.

At this age, fears are usually just a passing disturbance, especially if you react with patience and calm. Instead of dismissing or pooh-poohing a fear, gradually help your baby overcome it. Slowly introduce the thing that bothers her: For example, hold your baby while you fill the tub and get her bath ready, letting her see you turn on the faucet. Smile and tell her what you're doing and splash your hand in the water to show that it's not harmful -- and can even be fun. If your baby doesn't stop showing fear, trust that she'll eventually outgrow it. For the time being, try to remove her from what's frightening her as much as possible. For example, if she continues to fear the sound of the faucet, fill the tub and shut off the water before bringing her into the bathroom.

If new fears seem to be cropping up regularly, make sure your baby has the security of a "lovey," or comfort object. Such an object can ease her anxiety in a scary situation, like getting dropped off at daycare or meeting new people. If you know you'll be exposing your baby to something that may frighten her, it may help to prepare for the possibility through pretend play -- by playing "doctor" before a checkup, for instance, or buying her a toy shopping cart if she gets upset during visits to the grocery store.

March 3, 2011, New York – It is uncommon to find a panel discussion staffed by all young, African women leaders. That is why it was such a refreshing change to hear their voices at yesterday’s session on “Documenting Women’s Experiences in Peace & Security as a Research Tool.”

These women were alumni of a joint fellowship program between the African Leadership Center and King’s College London aimed to train young, capable African women leaders to take a greater part in shaping the future of their country and its citizens. Coming from all over Africa including Nigeria, Kenya, and Sierra Leone, these women gathered to share their stories with us, as well as the stories of other women during peace and security, and of the importance of documenting them.

Telling the stories of women in war - before, during and after - takes on a more personal note for these women, one which we at Women for Women International comprehend fully. Documenting and sharing the stories of these women is more than just keeping a record of war’s experiences.

When we tell the stories of women, we let others into the daily realities of women in conflict and post-conflict zones. We give the world a glimpse of what it means to lose your husband to armed rebels, to be raped in front of your sons and daughters, to be constantly afraid to leave your house for fear of being attacked, and to be shunned by your own community because you have become one of the many thousand victims of sexual violence through no fault of your own.

When we tell the stories of these women, we shine a spotlight on the existing gaps between policy rhetoric and women’s experiences on the ground. We tell policymakers that regardless of how well-intentioned their policies and programs are, that if it was not formulated with women in mind, it will fall far short of their goals.

When we tell the stories of these women, we remind donors and politicians that there is more to war than just military intervention. We share with them aspects of women and children’s lives that become lost in translation in the midst of urgent military decisions during conflict, decisions such as whether to send additional troops into countries experiencing chaos as opposed to seriously contemplating and acting upon the critical need to increase humanitarian aid to conflict countries.

When we tell the stories of these women, we are ensuring that women’s courageous actions before, during, and after the war are not forgotten, ignored, neglected, and swept under the rug during peace talks. According to Debra Mwase, who was one of the panelists from Zimbabwe, part of the reason women have been excluded during peace negotiations in Africa is because their role and actions have been for the most part, invisible. Without documentation, it becomes almost impossible to advocate, assert, and fight for women’s valuable contributions toward peace.

When we tell the stories of these women, we are putting a human face to the problems going on far, far away from many of the world’s citizens. Vivid images, stories, and interviews with these women will hopefully light a fire in people’s conscience, reigniting empathy for all humankind, and drive them to take action to end the mass violation of these women’s rights. When we hear of these stories, they shame us into remembering that, regardless of our intentions and experiences, solutions to problems need to come from women themselves. As the representative from Open Society Institute - East Africa Region, who closed the session yesterday shared, even after losing everything – their husbands, children, homes, and source of income, the Congolese women she met with only wanted soap, so that they can clean themselves and so that they can restore a sliver of their dignity.

Finally and above all else, when we tell the stories of these women, they remind us that women are not just victims of violence and oppression, but most of all they are also agents of change and of peace. Despite atrocities, loss, and violence, women survivors of war are able to defy odds to rebuild their lives and the lives of countless other women like them. Slowly but surely, many of the women survivors of war that have gone through the year-long program at Women for Women International have shown us the power of what little knowledge and resources can do for a woman’s future.

One such success story is that of of Violette, one of the women survivors of war from Rwanda that Women for Women International served. In attempts to flee the rebels who were tearing her village apart, Violette ran away with her children to a nearby church to seek protection. Little did she know that the church was also grounds for a mass massacre. To avoid getting killed, Violette smeared blood on her and her children and laid on the floor pretending to be dead for one week. With little money to support her children, Violette enrolled in Women for Women International to learn vocational skills so that she can earn some income to feed her children and send them to school. Relying on her entrepreneurial skills, Violette’s business of harvesting sorghum and beans flourished. Violette was making an average of $1800 a year when the average income in Rwanda was $260 according to the World Bank. Inspired to share her wealth and fortune with her community, Violette applied and received a bank loan to build a water pipe for her community, where women spend hours a day catching water from the wells.

There are many other stories like Violette - of women who are heroes to many of us, and these stories need to be told.

Before I end, it is important to note how symbolic the panel of young women leaders was when we talk about UN Security Council Resolution 1325. This landmark resolution passed in 2000 and for the first time recognized the unique role and contributions of women in peace and conflict times. It called for women’s increased role in peace negotiations and for the protection and prevention of women from insecurity. The fact that this panel consisted of all young women leaders presents a laudable step in the right direction. After all the ongoing discussions about the lack of progress on UNSCR 1325, this panel is helping keep hope alive for me.

I took permission from my lovely "Boonmy" to post this on her blog which I feel could interest some of us visiting here.

I put the topic as a question because FOREX seems to be the "in thing" in our society today and many people feel it's a fast way of making money and get into it only to hurt themselves the more. Most times we youths of nowadays look for fast ways of making money, atimes by all means, I'm sorry to disappoint you, but FOREX isn't one of the means. If you are looking for fast ways of making money......please stay away from FOREX so you don't get hurt.

I am a Technical FOREX Trader and I have been into it for more than 3years now and I still consider myself as a learner in the business though with some degree of experience I must say. FOREX is just like any other form of business. You need to build it over a period of time.

Let me ask you this question, can a student get into a University to study Medicine and Surgery and decide "I am going to run this course in 6mths and be a Medical Doctor in the 7th month?", I'm sure the answer is "no". This goes for FOREX Trading too. To be a professional in FOREX Trading, you need to know what you are doing in the business. Educate yourself thoroughly. Why would anyone go to war without weapons?....lol. That's what you are doing if you jump into the FOREX Business uneducated.

FOREX Trading involves high risks because of the leverage involved, so why would I want to even risk more by just jumping into it with a very shallow knowledge of it. Now, successfull people in forex trading do everything they can to educate themselves so much that they know when to trade and when not to trade. They take time to invest in themselves first.

I could go on and on, Forex Trading is my passion....lol. Now back to the topic "Is FOREX Trading a gold mine?", to me, I would say "YES!". It is a gold mine in the long run. That is when you have educated yourself and prepared so much for the market, then it will be a gold mine for you.

Like i said earlier, I am a Technical Trader who is aware of the Fundamentals, but i don't trade based on the fundamentals, I believe in Trading what I see on the charts. I use "Simple Price Action" in my trades and Chart Patterns. I trade Gartleys, BATs, Crabs, and Butterflies....lol. I love using the Trend lines, Support and Resistance. I use the Fibonacci Tool as well to determine possible retracement levels and extesions too. I love to follow the trend, but atimes at "Key Levels" of support or resistance, I trade "Trend Reversals" using confirmations such as crowns, 123s, bullish and bearish engulfing candles, tweezer tops and bottoms, morning and evening stars. These are methods that have been used over the years and proven to be reliable to a large extent.

As professional traders, what we are majorly concerned about is "Money Management". This is one of the most important aspects in trading. Once you have superb Money Management in place then you are a step in the right direction. Professional Traders think mainly of how to preserve their capital and not mainly on how much profit their going to make. They consider the risks involved first before even considering the profit they will make..........

I guess I will take a break for now........I hope I made a bit of sense with what I have said so far? Forex is good business if you have the patience to educate yourself first. More of this will come later. We will show you how we trade in future posts and why we take those trades to show you that FOREX Trading works.

Who Watched the Lagos Governship Aspirant Debate Organized by Channels Television

lately i have been so upset with these whole election campaign, Nigerians are suffering a lot but our politicans/governors are just busy enriching their pockets, so with nothing to do, i decided to watch the debate and guess what? i really got inspired and you may ask why? I guess because i saw hope, Nigeria is getting to the stage where we are going to hold our government accountable, i see these governors trying so hard to present themselves as the right man for the work/job and trust me it is a starting point.
On a lighter note, the debate i tag NIGHT OF A THOUSAND LAUGHS. Gov. Babatunde Fashola showed the others what Oratory means! not that he is a fantastic person for lagos, because i feel more has to be done, but i cant deny the fact that he knows his onions.
NOW why not a presidential debate? i wonder why they are so scared of that!

Rashidi Yekini an Ex Super Eagles Star Needs Help

In case you have not heard, one of Africa's greatest footballers, Rashidi Yekini, 47, is allegedly in dire straits as regards his sanity. The two-time African footballer of the year now walks the streets of Ibadan barefooted, a development that has shocked many people who knew him from his active playing days. Rashidi is said to suffer delusions, a neurological illness which hinges on belief that is pathological and held, despite evidence to the contrary.

Neighbours at his Oni and Sons Ring Road residence in Ibadan say he's been acting strange for some time now, always seen talking to himself. Sources say sometime late last year, Yekini, in the full glare of neighbours, brought out his belongings and allegedly set it on fire.

Yekini lives alone in his house, has a few tenants and rarely gets visitors. Since his marriage crashed in 1994, he hasn't remarried but has two children who visit him on holidays.

Friends and some of his ex-team mates worried about his mental instability are trying to get him help.

I Came Across a Policeman

I have always had negative impressions about the Police force, i have always assumed they are bunch of illiterates and irrational hungry people with no intelligence, it is harsh abi? that has always been my impression , then you may ask why? ok , let me give you guys one of the experiences i had with them while i was in secondary school,

I was sent to the market by my mum to buy foodstuffs in Bariga market, that was because in my teenage years we lived in Akoka, anyway on my way at about 3pm, at the bus/stop, a bus full of policemen just parked and guess what? these police men started shooting! yes shooting at broad day light at a public bus/stop, trust me i ran, with no destination in mind, then i heard a shout from the man behind me, he was hit by a bullet, i ran into a house around and for those of you who do not know bariga , it's a slum , so most houses are ''Face me I face you", i saw my self in a man's room on his bed, a lady and i, imagine if the guy was a paedophile or a maniac? it would have been from frying pan to fire.

so you have a background how i felt about policemen, then on Monday, i boarded a public bus i decided to sit in the front with the driver and most buses have two seat for passengers in front, the policeman entered and i was upset , he even told me to make space for him that his side of the seat was not convenient, i did not respond to him, then there was traffic , he started a conservation with me, i thought wait a minute, this guys can speak good English, i turned to check him out to see if he was really a policeman , he really was , then i decided let me be courteous and pretend to be listening, but i really listened because he spoke very well and had a good sense of humour.

So here is the lesson , never prejudge people, people are different most of the time.

most of the films i watch always end with the woman been blamed , and with the men thinking they can get away with everything, and that it's a man's world?

my second question is? we have females acting in this films do they not read the scripts , why do they still act just roles? is it that that is how they view themselves? as second class citizens of the world and that a man can do whatever he wants to do ?

i was reading linda ikeji's blog and some one made a comment and i just had to post because she has simply spilled my mind, hope you guys feel the same way!

Linda Darling then what would you say to the amount of money people charge for weddings and event venues. Nigeria to me is a joke sometimes seriously. I had a conversation with a girl about the fact that I would love to get married in Nigeria and she was like 'maybe your parents are boxed up' I was like no honey, I was actually thinking because it would be cheaper. She laughed so much and asked for Location I said Lagos of course, she was like Maybe am having a low budget wedding. Lol. I said no I would be spending close to HUGE 2 million Naira, she said but my wedding is on the mainland, I was like it does not matter, but the venue has to be good, decent location, and blah blah blah. She then continued laughing and I got worried like does this girl not know about me and she probably didnt think I have alot of money as 2 Million (Me wey I be big girl, shey becus I humble). She went up and got Her Laptop, got about 4 numbers for my decent wedding location in Naija. The first place I called, they were really nice, asked what I want and told them with a Fake Naija accent so they wont think I be mugu, the girl asked if I wanted some charis chairs (or watever) it sounded nice so I said yes, she then quoted the price at 2 million. lol. For venue alone oh, I asked her if it included for my engagement,she said if they were to give me for engagement they could do a deal, but it was still over my whole buget for the whole wedding. My friend said to call another place which this time was on the mainland, I got a quote for over 1.5 million. I shall called all the four numbers and the prices were just ridiculous. My 2 million budget seems only for venues. Then I started researching Niaja more and let me mention I have not been home for 11yrs, thou going this easter. But the house prices, everything is Naija is to damn expensive for my hard working ass. I mean is it not Naija with no electricity, bad roads, no basic, The prices just dont make sense. But I heard it is the high and rich men children that came abroad and are now back home that have changed the game. Wedding now is a matter of who can afford this venue, what type of this and that. Na levels. My wedding will defo be here in London, and Linda darling u will be invited so you can cover it and display here on Linda Ikeji, me I no get the level for Dele and uncle Bisi. For the past two years i moved to a new area, and i think i experienced culture shock or should i say my experience has made me realized how much people are been neglected in this country! when you leave the high brow area and you move to the inner area, then you can appreciate when CNN, BBC report about your country been pathetic , before i used to think they exaggerate these reports or documentary, but basically most Nigerians are living in very bad environmental conditions

Then you hear campaign slogans saying road are better and you ask yourself which roads? the ones in his house or the one you are passing everyday, now lets talk about NEPA oh sorry Power holding# hissed# that alone is another headache.

here goes my question what do we do?would these ever end? would an average Nigerian enjoy basic amenities? i am having headache just writing this!

The other lady i want to blog about is Mrs Ibukun Awosika.
When i was about graduating from school,i was really at a crossroad about what career i wanted to pursue. i studied Education and do not really want to teach, i tried teaching and i hated every bit of it.I went for a seminar organized by Mrs Awosika and she was so sincere about her views were, she made me realize to try out what i tot i really wanted to do,most peolpe looked at me as not been focused if i tell them i am not really sure what i wanted to be.
Mrs Awosika said her stroy about how confused she was too and how she tried everthing she tot she wanted to do until she finally got what she wanted,that was the best advice i have ever heard it really changed my life and made me explore,it made me developed the boldness to tell myself although i dont know what i wanted to be but i have some ideas what i would like to be,so i tried the first option an NGO and i approached one in my area and i got employed and although i wish i was better paid i am enjoying what am doing,i kind of have a idea what field i would like to pursue i am really proud of myself now.
Thanks to women like Mrs Awosika who found the importance of mentoring confused graduate like me.
i hope she reads this to know how she has been a force in shaping my life.

I am meant to write about a woman who has inspired me in technology i only know of one person and she is Ms Oreoluwa Somolu.
I met Ms Somolu when i went for a training in ICTs,i really like computers and i was excited when i had to go for one,seriously i taught i would meet a lot of men but i met two smiling ladies and immediately i knew i would enjoy my training.
Now about Ms Oreoluwa Somolu,one day while we were having lunch during the period i volunteered with W-TEC(Ms.Somolu's Organization) we got talking about mentoring and i asked her if she would not mind been my mentor and with a smile she said why not,she has been a wonderful person always ready to advice when you call.and also i have learnt a lot about technolohy from her,because of the training in ICTs i am now so involued in ICTs that in my office it has really improved my work and the men cant talk trash with me,you know men think ICTs is for only them.Lol

i think ladies should not be afraid of expressing thenselves intellectually,people expect us to express ourselves based on our faminity,but i think we are more than that,we bring sanity to the world.imagine a world without women there would be some much disorgainsation and protocol.and besides no one to give birth to the men dreams.THINK ABOUT IT
